Children’s fashion is one of the fastest-wasted categories in the industry.

Children outgrow 7 sizes in the first 2 years.
Globally, over 183 billion children’s garments are outgrown every year.
Most are worn fewer than five times.
Yet the system was never designed for this reality.
That’s the problem we’re solving at DKC.
I recently joined Matthew Ekholm from Provenant on the World Textile Information Network (WTiN) podast, hosted by the lovely Abigail Turner, to talk about how we’re building the infrastructure behind circular fashion, starting with childrenswear🎙️.
A few key points we covered:
• Digital Product Passports turn garments into traceable assets with authentication, ownership history, and impact data 🔗
• The resale market is growing 12x faster than traditional retail 📈
• Fashion contributes to 10% of global carbon emissions, with childrenswear one of the highest turnover categories 🌍
At the same time:
• 70% of Gen Z and Millennial parents prefer sustainable brands 👶
• The luxury childrenswear market is projected to exceed $43B+ by 2030 💰
• Resale is expected to double by 2027 ♻️
•50% of brands cite financial barriers to circularity
For us, this isn’t resale as a feature.
It’s infrastructure.
A system where every product has identity, every lifecycle is tracked, and value is retained across multiple owners.
Children’s fashion is the natural starting point.
Short lifecycle. High frequency. Predictable behaviour.
Build it here, and it scales across the entire industry.
The shift isn’t coming.
It’s already happening.
